How to get rid of a cold?

our whole family has this stupid cold! and i really want to get rid of it...my head feels like its about to explode!! i have taken vitamin c, benadryl, NyQuil, and a lot of other stuff... i can't sleep normally anyways and sleep is supposed with a cold a little bit. i have to take sleeping pills to actually get 4 hours of sleep and half of the time they don't work! so it seems like nothing is helping!! please tell me what will help...chicken soup is a stupid answer because it has nothing to do with a cold. please help!
