Hey! How do I turn a Coco-nut into a tree?

I was in the tropics this weekend and picked up a coco nut with a little leafy tree sprouting out of it. I'm back up in snow country now, and I would like to put it in a pot for the winter. What kind of soil should I use? I can keep in inside with a sunny window no problem. How wet should I keep it? All the best, Bob
